Love and Desire
Some good ol’ fashioned lovin’

14 December 2018 – 28 April 2019

We’re always excited by a blockbuster, so we were excited to work with the National Gallery of Australia on their summer 2018/2019 exhibition Love and Desire: Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces from the Tate.

Our role was to develop the brand that would be implemented throughout the exhibition space as well as print collateral and merchandise. As well as implement the press and digital campaign that would draw in visitors and introduce the artworks.

Fresh desire

It was important to us to create a design that showcased these masterpieces with the reverence they deserved. Our work needed to be both refined and respectful.

Tender loving

These were time capsules of youthful passion and ardour — emotions that are both relevant and timeless. By using a simple maroon and white colour palette, with subtle serifs in the typeface that spoke to classical periods, we were able to craft visuals that aligned with the artistic era and themes.

With such an emotion-laden exhibition title and emotive artworks, it was important for the design to be a perfect match.
